McDonough Announces Campaign To Combat Sexual Assault On College Campuses

Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) today announced the “Enough is Enough” campaign, a statewide program to combat sexual assault on college campuses. The proposed legislation would create a uniform sexual assault policy, and require affirmative consent and access to law enforcement for all of New York’s colleges and universities.

“Public protection has been one of my top priorities during my tenure in the Assembly,” said McDonough. “A tighter, more uniform sexual assault policy would help mitigate the rise in sex crimes we have seen on college campuses over the last several years. This campaign will help spread information and bring awareness to this issue as well as assure victims of sexual abuse that help and protection will be more accessible.”

The “Enough is Enough” program involves distributing a victim/survivor’s bill of rights to all students, increased training for college and university staff, and statewide amnesty and affirmative consent programs. SUNY already has adopted this program, and more information can be found at www.ny.gov/SafeCampusNY. To report sexual assaults and crimes 24-hours a day, call 1-844-845-7296.
