McDonough Calls For Renewed Focus On Small Businesses
Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) today reaffirmed his support for small businesses as the Legislature begins its yearly budget deliberations. McDonough said small businesses should be a focus of the Legislature this year and that New York’s business climate is not sufficient to attract new companies to our state.
“Small businesses continue to comprise the framework of our economy,” McDonough said. “Oftentimes, small mom-and-pop businesses make residents feel more valued and respected when shopping, and consumers know that profits will typically be reinvested into the businesses or used to hire more employees, not go to support a large, out-of-state corporation. It is time that the Legislature and Gov. Cuomo consider the tax cuts and deregulation that small businesses need to survive in New York and make those a priority this budget cycle.”
McDonough also urged support for the Small Business Full Employment Act, an omnibus bill that includes many tax cuts and pro-business initiatives.
“I urge my colleagues in the Assembly to sponsor and support this small-business package,” McDonough said. “It is time that we bring sweeping tax cuts and deregulation to small businesses in our state so they can hire more employees and compete with larger corporations. This proposal includes legislation to cut taxes, create jobs and reduce costs for consumers.”
McDonough’s comments came on Small Business Day in Albany. Members of the Legislature met with representatives from the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) to discuss support for various industries and companies around the state.
