Governor Mirrors Assembly Minority Small Business Plan
Today, Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) urged support for the Assembly Minority’s Small Business Full Employment Act. The bill was introduced last year by Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb (R,C-Canandaigua), co-sponsored by McDonough, and would enact a series of tax, regulatory and job-creation measures for New York’s small businesses. McDonough was encouraged that Governor Cuomo has finally demonstrated the same support for small businesses as shown by the Assembly Minority for years. In his fourth proposal to be included in this year’s executive budget, Governor Cuomo stated he would like to include a higher Personal Income Tax Exemption (PIT) and lower the tax rate for small businesses.
“I am pleased to see that Governor Cuomo is finally showing support for New York’s struggling small businesses,” McDonough said. “Our tax and regulatory climate has been hampering job growth for years, and it is unfortunate that he waited this long to show interest in one of the driving forces of our state’s economy. The Assembly Minority Conference has long championed cutting taxes and reducing regulations for our small businesses, and I look forward to these aspirations coming to fruition during this year’s budget process.”
