McDonough Calls for Infrastructure Parity, Funding for Local Roads & Bridges at Rebuild-NY Rally
Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick), joined by highway superintendents, construction crews and other legislators from across the state, spoke at the rebuild-NY Now rally on Monday in Albany and called for greater parity between New York City and Long Island. New York City is slated to receive billions for a remodel of LaGuardia Airport and various other infrastructure projects while the rest of the state is only slated for a marginal infrastructure funding increase.
“As the Assembly Minority Ranker on the Assembly’s Transportation Committee, I was proud to champion increased infrastructure funding at the Rebuild-NY Rally and talk with local officials about the challenges they face in their communities,” McDonough said. “Long Island is in desperate need of new roads, bridges and highways. Our region has seen two major natural disasters in recent memory and our families and businesses rely on the safety of these routes each day. I am calling on the governor and Assembly leaders to give Long Island its fair share in the year’s budget.”
