McDonough Decries Judith Clark Commutation, Calls it Slap in Face to Law Enforcement and Justice Process
A Statement from Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick)
“I am shocked and appalled that Gov. Cuomo would commute the sentence and praise the integrity of an individual who was involved in such a horrendous act that resulted in the death of two law enforcement officials. Judith Clark was tried and convicted during a fair jury trial, and to override the decision handed down by our justice system in a unilateral fashion is unacceptable and sends the message that serious criminals can get a free pass.
“In a time where our law enforcement officials, who selflessly put their lives on the line to protect us each day, are under constant scrutiny by the public and media, it is important to stand by them. This decision by Gov. Cuomo is disrespectful to our men and women in blue and sends the wrong message to police officers across the country.”
