McDonough Protecting Your Privacy
Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) is pleased to announce a bill has just been signed into law to protect against illegal video recording of adjacent back yards. Every individual deserves a reasonable expectation of privacy and McDonough was one of the few sponsors in the Assembly who was instrumental and vocal in fighting for it. This law protects against people videotaping your yards without your permission and provides a legal solution if such activities take place.
“Everyone has the right to privacy in and around their own homes,” McDonough said. “Being able to let your kids play in your back yard without worrying about them being recorded is something you should just expect. A person should be able to host their friends and family on their own property without having to worry about someone installing a video camera and spying on them. An individual’s home is the one place on Earth that people deserve to feel safe, secure and protected.”
