Senator Webb & Assemblywoman Lupardo Recognize Binghamton Boys Basketball Team for State Championship Win

Team traveled to State Capitol for a day of activities

Albany, NY – Senator Lea Webb and Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo welcomed the Binghamton High School Boys Basketball Team to the State Capitol for a day of activities to congratulate them on their State Championship win in March of this year. They presented a Legislative Resolution that passed in both the Senate and Assembly, congratulating the team on their accomplishment.

On March 21st, the Binghamton Patriots captured the NYSPHSAA Class AA Championship in Boys Basketball, defeating Niskayuna High School 75-61 in an intensely competitive double overtime. Their season concluded with an impressive 20-3 overall record; a testament to the hard work, discipline, and unity displayed by these young athletes.

The 17-member team along with Head Coach Duncan Paddick traveled to Albany for a day of celebration and recognition. Senator Webb and Assemblywoman Lupardo introduced the team on the floor in each house of the Legislature, and the team enjoyed a luncheon jointly hosted by the two legislators. Copies of a Legislative Resolution congratulating the team on the win were also presented to the coach and each member of the team.

This is more than just a win on the court; it’s a moment of pride for our entire community. Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo and I are honored to recognize this achievement with a joint Legislative Resolution in the Senate and Assembly, and we’re excited to celebrate their hard work, talent, and determination.”

Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo said, “Congratulations to the Binghamton Boys Basketball Team on their State Championship win! They worked hard all season, taking home the team’s first state title in 39 years, and bringing immense pride to the entire community. We were very happy to recognize them with a joint Legislative Resolution in the NYS Assembly and Senate, and a day in the Capital in celebration of their momentous achievement."
