Binghamton, NY – After being displaced from the Greater Binghamton Health Center Campus the Broome-Tioga Composite Squadron of the Civil Air Patrol has relocated to the Greater Binghamton Airport.

Thanks to assistance from Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and New York Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo, the group now has a location for its weekly meetings.

“We’re honored to be able to provide a location for the Civil Air Patrol to meet,” said County Executive Garnar. “This group gives young men and women a chance to not only help their communities but it allows them the chance to grow in a safe and positive environment.”

“BGM is a natural fit for our local Civil Air Patrol unit and, as an honorary Major in CAP’s Legislative Squadron, I'm very happy to have worked with the County to find them their new home,” said Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo. “Along with the education and training it provides cadets and members, CAP is regularly involved with emergency and disaster response missions. Our community is lucky to have such an active and dedicated squadron.”

The Civil Air Patrol had previously been stationed at the Greater Binghamton Health Center Campus. However, deteriorating conditions made the space uninhabitable. The first meeting was held at the airport on October 12th.

Consisting of approximately 50 cadets and 20 adult volunteers, the group’s main missions are Cadet Programs, Aerospace Education and Emergency Services. The squadron meets every Thursday at 6:30 P.M. on the second floor of the Greater Binghamton Airport Terminal.
