Lupardo, CHOW Announce Details of Grant to Support Food Pantries
Residents can donate during the holiday season
Binghamton, NY – At its warehouse in Binghamton Thursday, representatives from the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW) joined Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo to announce details of new funding to support food pantries throughout the community.
CHOW received a $10,000 Assembly grant through Lupardo’s office to purchase 80 thousand pounds of food for its warehouse; enough food to provide more than 66 thousand meals throughout the community. The group’s director says this money was crucial for the pantry during the busy holiday season.
“The holiday season and end of the year is always a busy time for us and we do our best to help those in need,” said Jack Seman, Director of CHOW. “This grant was huge in making sure our shelves get restocked following the high demand we’re facing and we want to thank Assemblywoman Lupardo for her continued support.”
“The number of people in our community who need food assistance is truly overwhelming” Lupardo said. “I’m glad we were able to secure this grant so that CHOW can continue providing this critically important service."
Lupardo and CHOW challenged the community to do its part by donating during the holiday season, or making it a New Year’s resolution to give back to those in need. Donations of food can be made Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM at its warehouse at 3 Otseningo St. in Binghamton. Large donations of food can also be picked up by one of CHOW’s trucks.
