Lupardo, Endicott PD Announce New Police Cars
Assemblywoman secures funding to purchase vehicles
Endicott, NY – Three new patrol vehicles have been added to the Endicott Police Department’s fleet. Assemblywoman Donna Lupardo joined members of the department Friday to debut the new cars which were purchased through funding secured by the Assemblywoman.
“Our police officers do a tremendous job keeping our community safe. I’m happy to have secured this funding to support them,” said Lupardo. “These vehicles provide increased visibility and can take on all types of weather, enhancing the protection they provide and keeping them safe as well.”
Lupardo secured $126,000 through the state’s State and Municipal Facilities (SAM) program for the purchase of the three new vehicles. SAM grants can be used by local governments to fund the construction and rehabilitation of public facilities, as well as purchase equipment such, such as vehicles. Endicott PD’s new cars will replace aging vehicles in its fleet.
“Our fleet goes through a lot of wear and tear,” said Endicott Police Chief Patrick Garey. “Being on patrol year-round, in every kind of weather, really takes its toll. The new vehicles will really help our officers better serve the community and as a result increase public safety. We appreciate Assemblywoman Lupardo’s efforts to secure this funding.”
“Keeping our community safe is the top priority for the Village,” said Mayor John Bertoni. “By working with Assemblywoman Lupardo on this grant we can do that while also saving taxpayers money. On behalf of the Village, I’d like to thank the Assemblywoman for securing this funding.”
All three cars have been in service since February.
