Assemblyman Smith Addresses Seneca Middle School Students
Assemblyman Doug Smith recently spoke to seventh and eighth grade students at Seneca Middle School in Holbrook teaching them about State and Local government and leading a discussion on issues important to them.
“I was very impressed by the questions and interest of our students, particularly on the topics of housing and the nationwide heroin epidemic. It is clear to me that they are already actively thinking about our community and their own abilities to effectuate positive change,” said Smith.
As a certified Mathematics Teacher and former Seneca student, Smith encouraged the students to get involved. “Just 15 years ago, I was sitting right here in this auditorium. Assemblyman Steve Levy, also a Sachem graduate who attended this school, came here to answer questions just like I’m doing today. I have no doubt that sitting right here we have many of the future community leaders, business owners, teachers, scientists, police officers, and other agents of change that will make our community better for future generations.”
