Assemblyman Doug Smith debated in support of a bill sponsored by neighboring Assemblyman Steve Englebright to encourage solar energy development on Long Island. Following the debate, Assemblyman Smith said:

“I debated and spoke in support of a bill that will help promote Solar Energy on Long Island. Currently our state is moving towards an uncertain and unpredictable reimbursement system for Solar Energy. I support Solar as an alternative to the PSEG/LIPA monopoly that can lower energy costs for homeowners and businesses across Long Island. Solar is good for our environment and employs hundreds of people in our district.”
