Assemblyman Braunstein Donates Hundreds of Gifts to Queens Veterans Through “Valentines for Vets” Drive

Queens, NY – On Thursday, Assemblyman Edward C. Braunstein (D-Bayside) delivered hundreds of items generously donated through his office’s “Valentines for Vets” gift drive to hospitalized and disabled veterans at the St. Albans VA Community Living Center and the New York State Veterans’ Home at St. Albans.

Assemblyman Braunstein was joined by NJROTC and Journalism students from Benjamin Cardozo High School, who lent a helping hand at the donation drop off and thanked the veterans for their service.

“I want to thank each Northeast Queens resident, organization, and school who donated to the Valentines for Vets Gift Drive and helped warm a local veteran’s heart this winter,” said Assemblyman Edward Braunstein. “It’s always special to have the Cardozo High School students and faculty assist with the distribution of the gifts and join me in personally thanking the veterans for their service to our country.”

The donations included greeting cards, candy, playing cards, puzzles, activity books, toiletries, and new clothing items, including shirts, pants, socks, and pajamas. Items were donated by Northeast Queens residents, Girl Scout Troops #4017 Flushing, #4202 Flushing, #4279 Bayside, and #4558 Flushing, the Bayside Kiwanis Club, and several local schools.

The St. Albans VA Community Living Center provides comprehensive, 24/7 healthcare to local veterans. The New York State Veterans’ Home at St. Albans provides residential, nursing and rehabilitative care to elderly and chronically-ill veterans and eligible family members.
