Assemblyman Braunstein Announces Northeast Queens COVID-19 Vaccination Site
On March 23, 2021, Assemblyman Edward C. Braunstein (D-Bayside) issued the following statement relating to COVID-19 vaccination efforts in Northeast Queens.
"I am pleased to learn that Northeast Queens, an area with one of the largest senior populations in the City, will soon see a long-awaited, permanent COVID-19 vaccination site at Korean Community Services in Bayside. Equitable and accessible vaccine distribution is a critical part of New York City's continued fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. As we work towards New York's recovery, I urge all Northeast Queens residents to make an appointment and get the vaccine as they become eligible. Thank you to KCS for working with the City to make this permanent site a reality and to Mayor de Blasio for responding to the needs of our community."
The new vaccine site hosted by Korean Community Services, operated by Centers Urgent Care, and located at 203-05 32nd Ave., will offer more than 160 appointments per day and will be open 7 days a week, from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Additional days and appointments will be available as supply increases citywide. Starting March 25, eligible New Yorkers can make an appointment at nyc.gov/vaccinefinder or by calling 877-VAX-4NYC.
On February 8th, Assemblyman Braunstein joined area lawmakers at Commonpoint Queens in Little Neck to call on City Hall to open COVID-19 vaccination sites in Northeast Queens. Later that week, at a New York State Executive Budget hearing, Assemblyman Braunstein pressed Mayor de Blasio about the Northeast Queens vaccine desert and renewed the call for a permanent vaccination site. The Mayor responded by promising the Assemblyman that the City would establish a permanent site in Northeast Queens.
Korean Community Services of NY (KCS), located at 203-05 32nd Avenue, operated as a temporary pop-up vaccination site on February 11th and 12th, when 500 doses were successfully distributed to the community.
