Assemblyman Thiele Announces Funding to Modernize Classroom Technology at East Moriches UFSD
Last week, Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (D-Sag Harbor) announced that $259,820 in funding has been secured for East Moriches Union Free School Districts through the Smart Schools Bond Act to modernize classrooms, enhance digital learning and utilize transformative technologies.
Governor Hochul recently approved 61 Smart Schools Investment Plans focused on reimagining education in an evolving age and boosting school security. The approved plans, totaling $31.4 million, are part of the $2 billion Smart Schools Bond Act, a sweeping education technology program. East Moriches UFSD will receive $259,820 for classroom technology, which includes purchases of computer servers, interactive whiteboards, tablets, desktop and laptop computers.
Assemblyman Thiele said, “Giving our children the best education possible means providing schools and teachers with the resources and technology they need to succeed and compete in the 21st century economy. Classroom technology helps students to learn at their own pace, extends opportunities for interactive experiences, promotes parent-teacher communication and increases equity for all students. This secured funding for East Moriches UFSD will help ensure that our children and students have access to a quality education, and I look forward to seeing the results of these investments in our classrooms.”
