Thiele Lauded as 2024 State Assembly “Environmental Champion” by the New York State League of Conservation Voters (NYLCV)
Thiele again earns a 100% NYLCV rating for 2024
The New York League of Conservation Voters has released its State Environmental Scorecard for the 2024 State Legislative Session. The New York State League of Conservation Voters is a statewide environmental organization that advocates for environmental legislation.
NYLCV has honored Assemblyman Thiele as its “Environmental Champion” in the State Assembly for 2024. In announcing the honor, NYLCV stated, “Assemblymember Thiele has been a champion for the environment –and for his constituents – his entire career, and with 2024 being his final year in office, he finished in especially strong fashion. His 100% score includes his sponsorship of the Suffolk County Water Quality Restoration Act, which will have a direct and positive impact on the health of Suffolk County residents for generations.”
The ranking is based upon 13 bills introduced in the State Assembly on issues relating to climate change, clean water, clean air, renewable energy, solid waste, and open space, including one of Assemblyman Thiele's own bills enacting the Suffolk County Water Quality Restoration Act. Thiele either sponsored or voted in favor of all 13 bills.
Thiele stated, "I am humbled to be recognized by the New York League of Conservation Voters as their 2024 ‘Environmental Champion’ in the State Assembly. On eastern Long Island, our environment is our economy. Our key industries of farming, fishing, tourism, and second homes cannot thrive without resources such as clean water and open spaces.
