Thiele: Route 24 Repaving Project Delayed to May 26
Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor) today announced that the $5.2 Million project to repave seven miles of NY Route 24/Flanders Road between County Road 63/Lake Avenue and Old Riverhead Road West in the Town of Southampton, set to resume Thursday, May 14, 2015, will now start on May 26th, the Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend.
According to the New York State Department of Transportation, if the project started on May 14th as expected, the roadway would have likely remained rough and milled for the busy holiday weekend. In an effort to try and provide motorist and travelers with a smoother and safer roadway, the start date has been pushed back to the Tuesday after Memorial Day weekend, May 26th. The roadside information signs should be reactivated later today to alert motorists of the new start date.
