New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF-Sag Harbor) today congratulated the Peconic Land Trust on a $1,000,000 New York State Urban Development Corporation Grant administered by the Empire State Development Corporation and Long Island regional Economic Development Council.

Through this grant, the Peconic Land Trust will establish an “Agricultural Capital Equipment Grant Program” of their own which will create a financial pool of resources to assist farmers wishing to make capital investments in farm machinery and equipment.

“I applaud and congratulate the Peconic Land Trust on this grant award. The Peconic Land Trust has been a staple in farmland preservation on the East End for nearly three decades. This grant will allow them to further protect Long Island’s working farms and local sustainable food production.
