Statement of Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. on Clare Rose Strike
Clare Rose is a long-time family business on Long Island that has enjoyed a great reputation. I know the management well and have visited their facilities many times.
Since April 23, 2017, its warehousemen and drivers have been on strike in an on-going contract dispute that has resulted in the filing of several unfair labor practices against the company.
The source of this disruption has been the actions of management. Management has not taken the right approach to resolve this dispute. The result has been a black eye for the business.
It is imperative that negotiations be renewed. Clare Rose should consider an approach that is worthy of the good reputation that the company has worked long and hard to establish. It must be fair to its hard working and dedicated employees who strive to make a living on Long Island.
