Thiele Holds Annual “Toys for Tots” Drive
New York State Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. (I, D, WF, WE-Sag Harbor) today announced that his district office will be accepting donations for the annual U.S. Marine Corps Reserve “Toys for Tots” program.
Thiele’s office will be collecting new, unwrapped toys for children from Monday, November 27th through Wednesday, December 13th. Donations may be dropped off at his office between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at 2302 Main Street, Suite A, in Bridgehampton.
“I am so proud to be a part of such a fine organization that helps make the holidays special for children who are less fortunate,” said Assemblyman Thiele. “I encourage residents to consider taking part in the Toys for Tots program and drop off a new, unwrapped toy to my office. If everyone can do their part, we can make this holiday season a magical one for children,” concluded Thiele.
The Toys for Tots charity was established in 1947 by the Marine’s Los Angeles Reserve Unit to collect and distribute toys to less fortunate children whose parents were unable to provide presents for them. Since the inception of the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, Marines have distributed more than 530 million toys to over 244 million less fortunate children.
