Assemblyman Thiele: New York State Awards East Hampton Housing Authority $5.6 Million for Affordable Housing Development
Assemblyman Fred W. Thiele, Jr. today announced that the East Hampton Housing Authority will receive a $5.6 million award for its affordable housing project at Three Mile Harbor Road. The funding is part of the state’s $20 billion Housing and Homelessness Plan, in which 100,000 units of affordable housing and 6,000 supportive units will be created. In total, more than $98 million has been awarded to build 1,054 affordable homes across New York State developments.
The Three Mile Harbor project in East Hampton North is currently scheduled for completion in 2024. The East Hampton Housing Authority is partnering with Georgica Green Ventures to build the housing facility, which will feature 59 apartment and townhouse-style units for families and individuals with incomes ranging from very low to moderate. Additional rental assistance will also be provided via Section 8 Project Based Vouchers to 8 households.
“I am thrilled that the East Hampton Housing Authority is getting the support it needs to build this affordable, energy-efficient housing project at Three Mile Harbor Road,” said Assemblyman Thiele. “The availability of affordable housing opportunities for moderate income and working-class residents is in short supply, and the adverse impacts from this shortage of housing opportunities must be addressed.”
