Assemblyman Thiele: NYSDOT to Hold Public Hearing on Storm Drainage Improvement Project on NYS Route 25 and NYS Route 27
Assemblyman Fred Thiele today announced that the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) will conduct a virtual public hearing regarding an upcoming project to enhance drainage at four locations in Suffolk County. This project was initiated to correct identified drainage deficiencies and control flooding at multiple locations to promote safer traffic movement, using cost-effective drainage improvement techniques, as well as improve the quality of highway runoff to adjacent surface waters using cost-effective draining improvement measures.
The public hearing will be held virtually on Thursday, August 19, 2021 where NYSDOT will present the proposed work for review, answer questions, and seek comments. An informal Q&A session prior to the public hearing will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and a presentation and formal comment period will follow from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The hearing can be accessed through the following web link: https://publichearing.webex/meet/PublicHearing or by dial in by calling 1 (844) 621-3956 and using Access Code 1328354556. The two locations for this project occurring within the 1st Assembly District include NYS Route 27 at Fort Pond in Montauk in the Town of East Hampton and NYS Route 27 between Scuttle Hole Road and Mecox Road in the Town of Southampton. Construction is expected to begin in Fall 2022 and work is expected to be completed in Summer 2024.
