Assemblymember Gabriella Romero Presents $30,000 to Support Pride Center of the Capital Region

Albany, NY – New York State Assemblymember Gabriella A. Romero (D, WFP) today presented a check for $30,000 to Pride Center of the Capital Region in operating funds to support their programming and services that provide education, safe spaces, health and wellness, mentorship, and youth empowerment.

These critical, life-saving services help ensure the LGBTQIA+ community in the Capital Region have access to care and provide a safe, welcoming environment. The Pride Center has programming available to people of all ages, from their youth work to services for seniors. The funding Assemblymember Romero secured for this organization will help them continue their work in the community as a strong, widely available space for LGBTQIA+ people in the 106th Assembly District and across the Capital Region.

Assemblymember Gabriella A. Romero:

“Our LGBTQIA+ friends and neighbors deserve a space in their community where they can feel safe, supported, and loved. The Pride Center of the Capital Region has been that space for decades. I am proud to support this organization that provides lifesaving care for LGBTQIA+ people, especially at a time when this community is under attack by the federal government. These necessary programs - youth empowerment, education services, mentorship, and more - will continue to make a difference in the lives of my constituents in the 109th Assembly district.”

Pride Center of the Capital Region Interim President Deb Vincent:

“Thank you to Assembly member Romero for her unflagging allyship. Her consistent, vocal and active support of the Pride Center and the communities we serve makes a measurable difference today and for our future. She is a bright light in the region and we look forward to working together in the future.”

Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy:

“Albany County is strongest when every resident feels seen, supported, and safe. This $30,000 investment from Assemblymember Romero to the Pride Center of the Capital Region helps ensure that LGBTQ+ youth have access to the resources, community, and affirmation they deserve. I’m grateful for her partnership and her commitment to building a more inclusive future for all.”

I strongly appreciate Assemblymember Romero's commitment to helping support organizations like the Pride Center of the Capital Region, particularly when LGBTQIA+ organizations are under attack from the federal government."
