Assemblymember Gabriella Romero Presents $10,000 to Sweet Pilgrim Soup Kitchen
Albany, NY – New York State Assemblymember Gabriella A. Romero (D, WFP) today presented a check for $10,000 to the Sweet Pilgrim Missionary Baptist Church Soup Kitchen in operating funds to support their weekly soup kitchen that provides hot meals to over a hundred Albany residents in need each Saturday.
This funding will help support the Church’s capacity to continue operating this critical community resource that many Albanians rely on. With the cold winter months approaching and lack of funding from the federal government for vital affordability programs, the Soup Kitchen is especially important. People in the community will continue to have access to food at Sweet Pilgrim when they need it most.
Assemblymember Gabriella A. Romero:
“I’m pleased to be able to provide Sweet Pilgrim with this funding to keep their services up and running in the City of Albany. As legislators, we have an important responsibility to support organizations in our communities and show through our actions what we care about. There is no question that the Sweet Pilgrim Soup Kitchen is a worthy candidate for this funding, and I’m thankful for the hard work the congregation does each week to keep our neighbors safe and fed.”
