Assembly Passes Women’s Equality Act
Assemblymember Harry B. Bronson (D-Rochester/Chili/Henrietta) announces the Assembly has passed legislation which includes all 10 points to the Women’s Equality Act. The legislation (A.8070) would take significant steps in ending the many discriminatory practices and obstacles facing women in New York, including pay inequity, sexual harassment, pregnancy discrimination in the workplace, human trafficking, domestic violence and family status discrimination. The bill would also reaffirm a woman's freedom to choose.
“Everyone in New York has strong women in their lives,” Assemblymember Bronson said. “We all know that discriminating against our mothers and daughters is wrong, and this legislation is long overdue. By passing all 10 points of the act we send a message to the women of New York – your rights are undeniable and comprehensive.”
