Assemblymember Bronson Supports Bill to Suspend Using Common Core to Evaluate Teachers for Two Years
Legislation limited to teachers in grades 3 through 8
June 19, 2014
“Common Core standards were meant to improve the quality of education our students receive. Unfortunately, the faulty implementation of the curriculum has prevented us from achieving this goal. Earlier this year, after hearing concerns of parents and students, we passed comprehensive reforms to lessen the burden of Common Core testing on our children.”
“This legislation will go a step further by excluding Common Core state tests from being used in teacher and principal evaluations for two years. Until the Common Core curriculum can be implemented as intended, we should put the brakes on for our students and educators; they should not have to pay the consequences for the state’s mistake.”
