Assemblymember Harry Bronson named Chair of the Assembly’s Committee on Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce and Industry
Bronson also named to the powerful Ways and Means Committee
Rochester, NY – Assemblymember Harry Bronson today announced his appointment as the Chair of the Assembly’s Committee on Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce and Industry.
“I’m grateful to Speaker Carl Heastie for honoring me with this vital position during this challenging time in New York State. Right now, we are amid three simultaneous crises – the COVID-19 health pandemic, the resulting economic downturn, and the issues of racial injustice. I am thankful for the opportunity in this new role to directly help our communities and families recover from the economic impact of COVID-19,” said Assemblymember Bronson. “I look forward to working with my Assembly colleagues to ensure our investments in economic development create and retain jobs for our families and, importantly, are complemented by investments in workforce development so our emerging and expanding industries have access to skilled workers and our families have more opportunities to succeed. Hardworking New Yorkers are the foundation of our local economies, and I will be fighting to make sure we are supporting them and investing in our future.”
The Assembly Standing Committee on Economic Development, Job Creation, Commerce and Industry is responsible for legislation that affects economic development and business regulation throughout the State; oversight of the State’s various economic development agencies, authorities and programs that notably impact the State’s overall economy; oversight of the alcoholic beverage industry; and the regulation of certain industries that are subject to the General Business Law.
In addition to Chairing the Economic Development Committee, Assemblymember Bronson has been named as a member of the Ways and Means, Transportation, Labor, and Education Committees, as well as serving as the Dean of the Rochester Delegation and continues as the Legislative Liaison to the Finger Lakes Regional Economic Development Council (FLREDC). Assemblymember Bronson previously served as Chair of the Legislative Commission on Skills Development and Career Education and most recently as Chair of the Assembly’s Committee on Aging.
