Gallahan Speaks on the 2022-2023 State Budget
April 9, 2022
“While I am certainly concerned about the fact that this year’s budget is another record-breaker in terms of spending, dwarfing the budgets of more populous states such as Florida and Texas, it's positive that we secured tax cuts for middle class New Yorkers and a partial suspension of the gas tax. With that said, I am disappointed the so-called ‘fix’ to bail reform seems to be designed to help the governor’s polling numbers as opposed to fighting crime. It will do little to restore judicial discretion that is needed to restore law and order. With nearly two months left of session, it’s important to stay focused on bringing accountability back to state government and addressing violent crime.”
