Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan Honors Eastview Mall with NYS Historic Business Registry Induction
On Wednesday, Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan (R,C-Manchester) presented Eastview Mall with their induction into the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry. Created in 2020, this registry is administered by the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation in an effort to recognize businesses that have been in operation for over 50 years that have become a fixture in their community and contributed to that community’s identity. The registry opened for its first round of nominations in 2021, and Eastview Mall was selected to be included in the first round of inductees.
“I was proud to nominate Eastview Mall to the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry. Since opening in 1971, Eastview Mall has contributed greatly to the success of the Town of Victor. Not only does Eastview Mall contribute to our local economy as a job creator, but its operators have worked hand in hand with different local organizations to strengthen the local community, including hosting the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign and the Shop with a Cop event,” said Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan. “I have been a firsthand witness to the history of Eastview Mall and have personally seen the great impact it makes in the local community. Thanks to Wilmorite and the Wilmot family for their continued investment in Eastview and Ontario County,” continued Gallahan.
“On behalf of Eastview Mall and the Wilmorite Corporation, I would like to thank Assemblyman Gallahan for nominating us for this wonderful honor. Eastview is a proud member of the Victor community, and we are very appreciative of the ongoing support we receive from the town, county and all of our shoppers who have chosen to visit us over the last 50 years,” said Eastview Mall General Manager Mike Kauffman.
“As Eastview Mall celebrates the milestone of 50 years, I look back on the years of not only the role it has played in our local economy but the strength of the partnership that has evolved over the years. Eastview is an anchor in this community as a destination for shoppers and tourists, as well as a site for numerous events for a variety of local causes and organizations. As we celebrate this anniversary and the induction into the New York State Historic Business Preservation Registry, I would be remiss if I didn’t thank the Wilmot family, the Wilmorite Corporation and Mike Kauffman for their continued efforts in the Town of Victor and Ontario County,” said Ontario County Board of Supervisors Chairman & Victor Town Supervisor Jack Marren.
