Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan (R,C-Manchester) joined Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R,C-Riverhead), Sen. Dean Murray (R,C-3rd Senate District), members of the Assembly and Senate Minority Conferences and members of the Longwood Public School Public Safety Committee in Albany earlier today to help voice concerns about current CBD-product regulations. Gallahan believes these regulations do not take into account children’s and teens’ safety now that adult-use cannabis is legal in the state of New York.

“While adults are now free to use CBD products in a responsible manner, these products are still falling into younger hands far too easily,” said Gallahan. “The question shouldn’t be why is this happening, the question should be why wouldn’t it be happening? Too many CBD and THC products resemble kids’ snacks and candies. Whether it’s accidental ingestion, or younger minds are being enticed and persuaded to purchase these products, it’s clear that certain cannabis products are not being marketed responsibly. Cannabis needs to be advertised clearly, and a very important message needs to be conveyed: cannabis is not for kids.”
