Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan (R,C-Manchester) is proud to announce that six libraries in the 131^st Assembly District will receive state aid for construction and renovation. More than 197 construction awards have been approved for public library projects statewide by the New York State Education Department and the New York State Library. Many of the library buildings across New York are over 60 years old and in serious need of repair and accessibility upgrades for those with disabilities. This funding allows libraries to continue to serve the public and meet the needs of our communities.

The Seneca Falls Library will receive $227,813 for ADA compliant restrooms and a new bookdrop. The Waterloo Library & Historical Society has been awarded $5,846 to remove bushes, install proper drainage and replace deteriorated electricity under bushes.

In Ontario County, the Geneva Public Library will receive $11,385 in order to remove a portion of the roof and replace it with new asphalt shingles. The Wood Library in Canandaigua will be installing a new emergency exit door and key fob security system with $21,727. The OWWL Library system located in Canandaigua and serving Ontario, Wayne, Wyoming and Livingston counties was awarded $21,532 for ADA and security upgrades.

The Mary Wilcox Memorial Library in Broome County will receive $110,808 to finish Phases 2 and 3 of their capital projects including an addition and breezeway.

“Libraries are beloved places to visit in our communities, and they are well deserving of this construction funding,” said Gallahan. “I am grateful that so many libraries in my district will receive this state aid so they can continue to improve their buildings and learning resources for children, families and seniors to enjoy. I fully support this initiative and look forward to seeing the planned changes made.”
