Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan (R,C-Manchester) is appalled that his proposal, Assembly Bill A.2992, was voted down by the Assembly Majority Conference. This proposal would have allowed the names of peace officers slain in the line of duty in New York state to be added to the Police Officers Memorial. Gallahan asserts this act would forever honor our fallen heroes and the Majority’s refusal to allow it to move forward is disrespectful to New York state’s law enforcement officers.  

“There is no good reason why the Assembly Majority has voted down my proposal to eternally honor the courageous men and women officers slain in the line of duty,” said Gallahan. “Many peace officers put their lives on the line to protect us and our families, and ensuring their names are memorialized if they are killed in the line of duty is a small but meaningful way for our state to give back. It is very disappointing this proposal has been voted down, and I sincerely hope the Majority re-evaluates its decision.”
