Gallahan Calls on Cuomo to Allow Interscholastic Sports to Resume in New York State
Assemblyman Jeff Gallahan (R,C-Manchester) has written a letter to Gov. Andrew Cuomo calling on him to allow interscholastic sports to resume after speaking with athletic directors within his district about their plans to keep student athletes safe.
“Resuming interscholastic sports can be done safely,” said Gallahan. “Student athletes who have the means have turned to private, paid sports clubs, while those underprivileged are left disadvantaged, yet again. The health of our students will always be the most important factor in any decision related to our schools, but this has been done in other states in a safe and responsible manner and our schools, students and coaches are prepared to do the same in New York. While our students can watch the Buffalo Bills play in the playoffs, they are being left on the sidelines waiting for the Governor to allow them to play.”
