Dinowitz Calls for Graffiti Artist ‘Siko’s’ Punishment
Hon. Robert Johnson
District Attorney, Bronx County
198 East 161st Street
Bronx, NY 10451
Dear District Attorney Johnson:
I have just been informed that the 50th Police Precinct has recently apprehended a very serious graffiti vandal repeat offender.
David Gonzalez, whose graffiti tag is "Siko," was arrested today. I have been told by the arresting officer that he has confessed to inscribing his tag hundreds of times throughout the City and Westchester County. His vandalism of both personal and private property has added up to thousands of dollars of damage throughout my Assembly district and beyond. For example, in his terrible spree, Mr. Gonzalez has vandalized private homes, damaging the aluminum siding to the point where it had to be completely replaced -- costing the homeowner great time and expense.
I have been told that this felon has also used a dangerous acid to apply his name permanently on a subway car, causing the evacuation of the train after hazardous fumes were emitted into the air. He also wrote his tag in the holding cell at the 50th precinct after being brought in on a previous arrest.
David Gonzalez is clearly the type of offender that has no regard for people's property or the quality of life of others and has not learned his lesson. I request that your office prosecute this individual to the fullest extent of the law. It is my hope that the sentencing Judge imposes the maximum possible sentence in this case.
If I can be of further assistance with this matter, please feel free to contact my district office.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey Dinowitz
Member of Assembly
