Assemblyman Dinowitz Blasts Majority in Congress for their Failure to Renew Affordable Care Act Subsidies

As 2025 comes to a close we continue to witness the failure of the Majority in Congress to protect Americans from huge increases in premiums for their healthcare. As they allow Affordable Care Act enhanced premium subsidies to expire, millions of Americans will face increased costs in 2026. This will leave many to choose between paying the increase or losing coverage and the President went on tv to tell everyone how good they have it. What can only amount to a blatant lie or utter incompetence he ignores the realities that Americans face in his economy.

Americans are not being left with only a choice of insurance or higher premiums. They have to face the rising costs of food, the rising price of housing, the rising price of utilities. The Majority in Congress ignores these facts as if they don't think it affects their own constituents. But we here in New York recognize this deception.

The debate regarding the extension of the subsidies for healthcare has been at the center of our Federal government for months now, resulting in the longest government shutdown our country has ever faced. Millions of Americans have been abandoned and will suffer from these cruel actions. Healthcare is a right and we should not rest until every American has proper coverage.

I know that New York State will remain firm in the idea that health care is essential to the wellbeing of all New Yorkers and will do everything possible to relieve the financial burden caused by this increased cost in insurance coverage.
