"The election of our new mayor, Bill de Blasio, presents a unique opportunity to finally make real improvements in the educational achievement of young people in our city. While I know that there will undoubtedly be some specific proposals that may be put forth in the future with which I disagree, I am particularly delighted that Bill de Blasio has made, as a centerpiece of his campaign, the funding of a true universal Pre-K program for all New York City school kids. I am looking forward to strongly supporting his proposal for a modest increase in the city income tax for high income earners when we return to Albany after the new year."
