Assemblyman Dinowitz Applauds DOT’s Quick Removal of Sidewalk Swastikas
Bronx - Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (D-Bronx) is pleased to announce that two swastikas carved into the sidewalk on West 255th Street between Mosholu Avenue and Fieldston Road have been removed by the Department of Transportation (DOT). The problem was first reported to Mr. Dinowitz’s office by a constituent during the second week of April. The Assemblyman personally inspected the sight and reported the problem to DOT, which removed the swastikas shortly there after.
“I am very pleased that the DOT reacted so quickly to this issue,” Dinowitz said. “When our office was contacted about this problem we contacted the DOT immediately, and their response to the problem was just as immediate. A minute is too long for a swastika to be on the sidewalk, so I am glad the response and removal of that heinous symbol was so prompt.”
A third swastika was later reported to the Dinowitz office which then relayed the issue to DOT for removal.
