Bronx- In response to a letter written by Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz (D-Bronx) the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) has agreed to add a missing “No Standing Anytime” sign near 3845 Sedgwick Avenue.

Currently, the signage near 3845 Sedgwick, located south of Stevenson Place on the west side of the street, features a “No Parking Thursday 11:30 AM- 1 PM” that is insufficient, because the directional arrow that points in both directions on the sign has tape placed over the arrow pointing south. As a result, motorists were still receiving tickets for parking just beyond the sign pole in an area that had no sign designation, not knowing they were actually parking in a No Standing” area. The addition of the “No Standing Anytime” sign pointing south, below the “No Parking Thursday” sign, will alleviate confusion and save area residents from both headaches and significant fines.

“Installing a ‘No Standing Anytime’ sign pointing south, below the ‘No Parking’ sign will clearly indicate the space immediately south of the sign is not available for parking,” Dinowitz said. “I am happy that the DOT has heeded our call and promised to fix this problem in the near future.”

According to DOT Bronx Borough Commissioner Constance Moran, a work order has been submitted to the sign maintenance unit to fix the problem and should be completed on or before April 30, 2014.
