Bronx, NY – Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz has announced that he was successful in convincing the NYC Department of Transportation to install traffic-calming measures on Irwin Avenue between West 234th Street and West 238th Street. After numerous complaints from constituents about vehicles traveling at dangerously high speeds along the residential corridor of Irwin Avenue, Assemblyman Dinowitz urged the Department of Transportation to install speed humps and new signage on the street. Earlier this year, the DOT informed Assemblyman Dinowitz of their intention to address the safety concerns he raised, and recently, the DOT completed the installation of speed humps on Irwin Avenue between West 234th and West 236th Streets and between West 236th and West 238th Streets, along with new street lettering and signage at each location.

Assemblyman Dinowitz said, “High speed vehicles on Irwin Avenue pose a great danger to the residents of this area, including many seniors and children. I applaud the Department of Transportation for heeding my warnings about the unsafe traffic conditions on this street and installing much-needed traffic-calming measures. These speed humps will help keep car speeds down on Irwin Avenue, keeping pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers in our community safer.”
