Assemblyman Dinowitz Eases Concerns of Constituents Regarding West 236th Street Overpass Project
Bronx, NY – As repairs begin to the West 236th Street Pedestrian Bridge over the Henry Hudson Parkway, Assemblyman Dinowitz warned constituents of some changes coming to the area.
“In the past week many community residents have contacted my office to express concerns regarding the Department of Transportation project to remove lead-based paint from the structure, while adding a new protective coating to it. Specifically, the appearance of large orange cages located around the repair area,” said Assemblyman Dinowitz. “After speaking with DOT, I learned these cages are meant to house federally mandated air quality control monitors; meaning they are an essential component of the project to ensure public health and safety, and will only be around for the duration of the construction.”
The work will occur at night through mid-November, during which residents can expect single-lane closures in both the north and south bound directions, with at least one lane of traffic open at all times. If community residents have any questions or concerns about the project they should feel free to call Assemblyman Dinowitz’s office at 718-796-5345.
