Bronx, NY – Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz has announced that he was successful in urging the NYC Department of Transportation to install appropriate lane markings on the Southbound Henry Hudson Parkway Service Road and West 239th Street.

Whereas previously, this section of the Henry Hudson Parkway Service Road had no lane designations or markings of any kind, cars often straddled the middle of what were actually two lanes, slowing the flow of traffic and creating a horrifyingly dangerous road condition for both motorists and pedestrians. Additionally, as cars approached West 239th street, the lack of lane markings or any type of signage, in the left lane would often turn right and vice versa, creating a situation where cars were constantly cutting each other off in both directions.

“I am excited and grateful the DOT has heeded my warnings about this terribly unsafe intersection by agreeing to install this much-needed traffic measure,” said Assemblyman Dinowitz. “The new lines and signage will help keep pedestrians, bicyclists, and drivers in our community safer.”

The DOT has already installed the left and right turn lane markings, with new “Left Turn Must Turn Left” signage to come.
