Assemblyman Dinowitz Warns Community of Dangerous Tree Condition on Bailey Avenue
Bronx, NY – In the wake of complaints by several local residents, Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz is alerting his constituents to a dangerous condition outside of 3835 Bailey Avenue where a large tree’s roots have broken through a brick retaining wall, posing an immediate risk to the surrounding properties and residents in the vicinity.
Previously owned by a Mr. Joseph Higgins, who accrued over 59 violations with the City Department of Buildings (DOB) on that property, the property is currently owned by JP Morgan Chase Bank.
“This is an accident waiting to happen,” said Assemblyman Dinowitz. “Despite several attempts by my office to contact Chase regarding this situation, we haven’t received a single response. They are being reckless by not taking steps to rectify this situation. I have personally contacted the DOB regarding this issue and I look forward to working with them to fix this hazard before someone is hurt. Though the DOB has inspected the area and issued violations, Chase has yet to take action."
