Attention 35th Assembly District Residents; Important Information about Housing Below!
October 2, 2015
There are currently programs accepting applications for working-poor clients who need emergency financial assistance (interest-free loans and grants) to pay rental arrears that threaten eviction. These programs also serve individuals who receive benefits based on a work history, such as Social Security Retirement, workers compensation, disability insurance, unemployment and Veterans.
To receive one-time, emergency financial assistance, clients MUST meet the following eligibility requirements:
- be in Housing Court on a Nonpayment Proceeding
- valid reason for falling behind in rent payments
- sufficient income to pay ongoing bills, including rent
- viable rental arrears
- tenancy rights can be preserved (favorable Stipulation or Decision Order)
To obtain more information about these programs and the assistance they can provide, you must contact Assemblyman Aubry’s office at 718-457-3615 or stop by the office at 98-09 Northern Blvd., Corona, New York, 11368.
