Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar's Statement on the Occasion of the Funeral of FDNY Firefighter Timothy Klein
South Queens - Today, as we lay to rest FDNY Firefighter Timothy Klein, our entire state joins together to honor and mourn one of New York’s Bravest. He died risking his own life to save others. He will forever be remembered in our hearts as a hero.
A lifelong resident of Queens who grew up in Breezy Point, Timothy Klein exemplified everything upstanding in a firefighter and humanitarian. He devoted his spare time to volunteering for others including building ramps for those in wheelchairs. Bravery ran in his family- his father was a firefighter, and he grew up among uncles and cousins in the Fire Department. He became a talented firefighter, and is remembered as being the best colleague, the best son and the best brother. He is the 1,157th member of the Fire Department to die in the line of duty. His legacy will live on in every life he saved, every person he aided, and every first responder he inspired.
