Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar Sponsoring Two Live Music Events in Her District This Weekend

The Forest Park Bandshell Will Be Hopping with Queens Rockfest on Saturday and the Pizza Dance Foundation Festival on Sunday

Woodhaven, NY - Woodhaven will be abuzz with celebration this weekend, with events Saturday and Sunday sponsored by Assemblywoman Jenifer Rajkumar in the heart of her district. On Saturday, June 26 from 10am to 8pm, the people of Queens will rock out to the Third Annual Queens Rockfest, and on Sunday, June 27 from 11am to 5pm, they will dance their cares away at the Pizza Dance Foundation Festival. Both events are free and open to the public, taking place at the Forest Park Bandshell.

The Queens Rockfest is a celebration of the musical talent of the borough. Conceived by musician George Wasek, the event brings together local musical acts, some of whom have toured nationally and internationally. This year’s lineup features eight acts. A Queens fixture for decades, the Pizza Dance Foundation Festival is a joyous occasion to promote peace and unity through pizza and dance. A partnership of the Pizza Dance Foundation and St. Jude Hospital, the event will feature live music, children’s activities, an antique car show, and more fun for the whole family. The event’s namesake dance, the creation of pizza entrepreneur Tony Modica, will play a prominent role in the festivities.

“I want to send out a very special thank you to Assemblywoman Rajkumar for making this event possible,” said Queens Rockfest creator and producer George Wasek. “After having to cancel QRF last year due to COVID-19, we will rock out like never before on Saturday. And we will do it safely, thanks to the Assemblywoman’s generous donation of QRF facemasks.”

“Assemblywoman Rajkumar has been so wonderful in supporting this year’s Pizza Dance Foundation Festival,” said Festival organizer Kathleen Leon. “The Pizza Dance is about spreading peace and unity, and at a time when hate crimes are on the rise, the spirit of the dance is more important than ever. Sunday will be an opportunity for people of all races, religions, and backgrounds to come together and ‘break bread.’”

“I am so proud to be sponsoring these two events,” said Assemblywoman Rajkumar. “After the trials and tribulations of the past 15 months, we could all use some lighthearted and joyous entertainment. With COVID restrictions easing and summer upon us, there has never been a better time to enjoy some fresh air and music. I cannot wait to hear our borough’s homegrown, world-class musical talent on Saturday, and I will have my dancing shoes on for the Pizza Dance this Sunday!”
