Assembly Member Jessica González-Rojas Joins Governor Kathy Hochul to Highlight the Distribution of $2.3 Billion in STAR Tax Credit Relief

New York, NY – Assembly Member Jessica González-Rojas joined Governor Kathy Hochul in Manhattan today to highlight New York State’s ongoing efforts to deliver $2.3 billion in tax relief to nearly three million New Yorkers under the State’s School Tax Relief (STAR) program. More than two million New Yorkers have already received their STAR tax relief and nearly one million will receive their benefits in the coming weeks.

“We must do all we can to make New York more affordable for everyone who lives here. The STAR rebate check disbursements from the state government are a great opportunity to support homeowners and cooperative apartment owners in our city and state. The checks come right on time as New Yorkers continue to ask us to help them make ends meet. New Yorkers have been waiting for and receiving relief. Today is an important day because budgets have only gotten tighter and bills have gone higher. I am proud to deliver for my neighbors,” said New York State Assembly Member Jessica González-Rojas.

The STAR program offers property tax relief to eligible New York State homeowners. Eligible homeowners who are registered for the STAR credit will automatically receive a STAR check in the mail each year, unless they’ve chosen direct deposit. In order to be eligible, applicants’ homes should be their primary residence and the combined income of the owners and the owners’ spouses is $500,000 or less. Learn more here.
