Giglio: New York Has A Crime Problem
Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R,C,I-Riverhead) today joined her colleagues in the Assembly and Senate Minorities to call for greater anti-crime measures. New York is currently experiencing a rise in crime including a 46.7 percent increase in murders from 2019 to 2020. In that same year, firearm-related violent crime increased by 28.9% in New York outside of New York City and New York has the highest demand for domestic violence services in the country.
“It has become abundantly clear New York has a crime problem,” said Giglio. “The recent surge in crime only highlights the dangerous policies that one-party rule has gotten us. The pro-criminal agenda must come to an end. We must stand with law enforcement and restore order in New York. It is time to take action and repeal bail reform. Putting discretion back in the hands of judges will help make our communities safer.”
