Giglio Honors Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce at Official Launch Event

Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R,C-Riverhead) joined her community in celebrating and honoring the official launch of the Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce earlier today. The event, hosted at Atlantis Banquets in Riverhead, marked a significant milestone for the local Guatemalan business community.

The Chamber, founded by Linda Vega, president and co-owner of Verapaz Express, aims to support local entrepreneurs and aspiring business owners with resources, tools and guidance for their success. The initiative has received strong backing from the Guatemalan Consulate in Riverhead, with Consul Ana Mercedes Flores playing a pivotal role in its development.

Giglio presented an official recognition to the Chamber’s leadership, celebrating their dedication and contributions to the region and expressed her enthusiasm for the launch, recognizing the Chamber’s potential to foster economic growth and provide opportunities for small businesses in the region.

“By providing resources, mentorship and cultural support, the Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce will help unlock opportunities for countless individuals, strengthening both our economy and our community as a whole,” said Giglio.

During the launch event, attendees heard from Vega, Flores and other prominent figures who highlighted the Chamber’s vision to serve as a cornerstone for local businesses. The Chamber’s plans include seminars, workshops and advisory services designed to empower entrepreneurs and foster sustainable business practices.

Flores emphasized the importance of the Chamber as a bridge between the consulate and the community, stating, “This initiative will amplify our efforts to promote trade, investment and the smart use of resources within the Guatemalan community here and abroad.”
