Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R,C,I-Riverhead) is supporting a piece of legislation which would ensure that all utility companies must include notice of all public hearings that relate to rate hikes. Giglio is particularly supportive in the transparency and communication these hearings give to communities, especially as New York navigates the fiscal fallout of COVID-19.

“New Yorkers deserve the chance to fight for their localities and know what is going on to their utilities,” Giglio said. “These services are central to our way of life and everyone should have the opportunity to be informed in any change of rate. Hardworking families and seniors do not need to be blindsided by a rate increase during a critical month, and ensuring we have open communication and transparency is essential.”
