Giglio: $6.7 Million in COVID-19 Funding for Marine Fishing Industries
Assemblywoman Jodi Giglio (R,C,I-Riverhead) announced $6.7 million in COVID-19 relief aid is being paid to seafood, marine, commercial, and for-hire fishermen who were impacted by the COVID-19 lockdown. An additional $5.7 million is being distributed though the Marine Fisheries Relief Program, for a total of $12.7 million to our fishing industry. Assemblywoman Giglio is a firm advocate for local and commercial fishing enterprises, which are the foundation of Long Island’s food industry, and she fully supports these critical businesses.
“This is wonderful support for our fisherman and commercial seafood companies,” Giglio said. “It’s great to see that assistance is finally being provided to one of our most important industries. Rebuilding our economic chain back to functional capacity is a primary goal, and I for one, can't wait to see our fishnets full again!”
